Product Booklet Design: Lip Balm
For this project, I transformed a mundane object—a tube of Burt’s Bees lip balm—into a source for creative mark-making and pattern design. Using the tubes and India ink, I experimented with the object’s various surfaces, creating unique circles, ridged lines, splotchy textures, and wax-based marks. Each mark was scanned, refined in Photoshop, and turned into motifs in Illustrator, which I then used to develop endless pattern variations.
Alongside hands-on experimentation, I researched the lip balm’s colors, fonts, and branding to guide the visual identity of my booklet. The final designs emphasize the natural, organic qualities of beeswax products, exploring the deeper relationship between a daily object and the elements of nature it represents.
