Artist Profile

Hannah O’Neil is a graphic design artist who primarily focuses on brand, publication, and visual identity design. Currently studying communication design at Skidmore College while majoring in studio art, O’Neil has gained skills across mediums, influencing her design process. O’Neil was born and raised in Beverly, Massachusetts, a coastal town surrounded by beautiful nature scenes and located just outside the city of Boston with a rich history of art. Her family has an affluent history of artistic minds spanning from musicians to painters and illustrators, which heavily influenced her creative journey, taking her first art class at the age of five. Both the beauty of nature and other art forms, such as music and dance, have become a strong influence in O’Neil’s designs. While her designs range from minimalism to maximalism, she always maintains the goal of communicating a cohesive flow to the viewer, guiding them through the piece, similar to the growth of a nurtured plant or the build of a song. Motifs of growing vines and florals often appear in her work along with an absence of rigid lines.

Additionally, O’Neil’s love of literature has led her in the direction of publication design, seeking to intertwine her two passions and interpret written media through her designs. Hannah gravitates towards digital design because of the limitless possibilities presented beyond the physical limitations of creation. Her main goal as a creative is to communicate messages to the general public through visually pleasing, imaginative, and easily legible graphics. To connect with her audience, Hannah prioritizes pops of color and visual balance in her work. O’Neil’s goals after graduating from college involve promoting literature, initiatives, products, or messages she believes in through graphic design.
